Hike The Poamoho Ridge Trail
This is a lovely path in the heart of Oahu. To get access to the 4WD road leading to the trailhead, you must obtain a permission from the Department of Forestry and Wildlife in Makiki.
Once at the beginning, the walk is a broad, meandering, and easy stroll through some of Oahu's most beautiful forest. The Koolaus, Poamoho Stream, and the east, north, and west coastlines are all visible from here.
It's a grassy spot beyond the Kline Memorial at the summit, with panoramic views of Kaawa, Kahana, and Punaluu. Don't miss the spectacular vista of Pu'u Ohulehule's pyramid mountain. Overall, a fantastic walk. Keep an eye on the weather, since it is often raining at Poamoho and the terrain may get very muddy. Keep an eye out for ohia trees in yellow, orange, pink, and red! The view is not something to miss... If you catch it on a clear day, then the scenery will blow your mind and be unlike anything else!
In summary, the path is somewhat more difficult than Aiea Loop, but not significantly so, if you can navigate the road with a 4X4. Otherwise, the trek would significantly lengthen it. The vistas are breathtaking, and it's easy to forget you're on Oahu the whole time. The most difficult aspect is navigating past the gravel road. The remainder of the route is a stroll in the park.
