Hiking Lāʻie Falls Trail

This trail, located in the northern section of windward Oahu, provides a magnificent ridge and a nice waterfall in the midst of a moderate walk. The first section begins on a gravel road that goes to Laie Ridge. When you reach the ridge, you'll be welcomed with beautiful flora, such as tall Cook pines and strawberry guava trees. Finally, continue along the ridge for a little while before following a side path down to the valley, where you'll find the stunning Laie Falls. This two-tiered waterfall, with its magnificent blueish pool, is an excellent spot for a snack and a dip. While getting to this trek may be a bit of a drive for most people, it is well worth the effort.

The Stunning Laie Falls

When compared to the Big Island and Maui, which are considerably larger and have higher altitudes, O'ahu's waterfall landscape may seem restricted. While this is usually true – you won't find the same number — there are many gorgeous, high-quality waterfalls to visit in O'ahu, many of which are family-friendly.

If you're searching for a more isolated waterfall, Lie Falls is a good choice. The waterfall is not very large – approximately 15 feet – but the combination of route length (7 miles round trip with multiple stream crossings), elevation increase (1000 feet), and permission procedure (see below) prevent it from being over-visited.

Before visiting Laie Falls

Waterfalls, no matter their size or form, are stunning, and tourists will undoubtedly want to get up close and personal with them. As you can see, swimming is possible at numerous waterfalls, and we urge everyone to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. However, there are a few factors to consider:

Stay away of the water if you have open wounds:

Bacteria that cause Leptospirosis may enter your body via open cuts and sores in numerous Hawaiian streams. It's better to remain on shore and admire if you have a cut.

Do not consume the water:

Bacteria in the water may cause illness.

While in the water, wear water shoes or sandals with a sturdy strap since the pebbles may be slippery and sharp

Never leap from a cliff and stay away from swing ropes:

Locals will very certainly be seen leaping from rocks and/or hanging from ropes at certain waterfalls. Locals are seasoned and knowledgeable about the pools; you are not. Avoid placing yourself at danger.
