Magic Island: A Befitting Name!

The man-made island includes a 30-acre park on a peninsula of land. The park sits between Honolulu and Waikiki, and enjoys great views of both. On one side of Magic Island is Ala Moana Beach Park and on the other side is the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor.

Magic Island had its origins in 1964 when it was built on the area’s reclaimed shallow reef with the intention of creating a resort hotel complex which would include two additional islands. The project never came to fruition and instead the island became a public park which was officially named Aina Moana in 1972, although most people still call it Magic Island.

What does it have to offer?

Magic Island is lined with white-sand beaches with a protected swimming lagoon. There is also a rocky breakwater, a biking trail, and picnic tables on the grassy area. In addition to being a great place to relax on weekends, the site is used for weddings and other celebrations as well as local festivals. Magic Island features large seawalls and a shallow lagoon. Keiki (children) will enjoy swimming in its calm waters. Picnic tables under shady trees make it an ideal location for a scenic picnic.

Magic Island is a thrilling and picturesque public park that's popular for relaxing walks, picnics, and occasional festivals and live drama performances. It was originally created as a resort complex, but it has since become a public park available to everyone. The whole family can find fun here as long as you like picturesque views and vibrant nature. Because it's a peninsula, you'll find access to the shore here as well. Most people spend about 2 or 3 hours here, but your trip could easily turn into an all-day affair if you get lost in the relaxing bliss.

Magic Island Lagoon for the aquatic activities

Many local residents and visitors alike come to Magic Island Lagoon to swim, bodyboard, surf, picnic or exercise (jogging, walking, etc.). Snorkeling, diving, and fishing are recommended in this area. However, one must be careful of the potential hazards that this place brought. Although it’s a man-made island, it’s best to keep an out for the sake of a safe trip.
