Snorkeling At Three Tables Beach Oahu
The flat table-like coral formations in the sea in front of the beach inspired the name "Three Tables." The snorkeling is concentrated around these tables.
Because it is not a well-protected bay, avoid going out when there are waves and surge. Even on a quiet day, there may be surge and strong outgoing currents in the left channel at any moment, so be careful.
Three Tables Beach is part of the Pupukea Marine Life Conservation District, which prohibits fishing on the beach. As a consequence, there are plenty of fish to view when snorkeling.

When snorkeling at Three Tables, stay close to the tables. You may travel outside of them if there is little surge or current. The issue is that if there is a rush, you will be forced onto or dumped on top of the tables. Therefore, if there is any doubt, remain between them and the shore. There will still be enough to see.
The terrain is fascinating and enjoyable to explore, spanning from the surface to about ten feet in depth. There is a good deal of vibrant coral, but it is mainly in tiny areas dispersed around. And we've always had healthy fish populations and a diverse range of species. Visibility varies according on the circumstances and may be limited in the presence of waves.
Best time to snorkel at Three Tables Beach
Three Tables is best snorkeled during the summer months, and, as is the case with most snorkel sites on Oahu, it is most peaceful during the week and early in the morning.
Three Tables Beach Amenities
There are many amenities in this area that make it ideal for spending the day. Food, drink, shade, and restrooms are all conveniently available nearby.
The only limitations are that there are no lifeguards on duty at Three Tables and that there is no snorkel rental available (but I usually suggest bringing your own snorkel gear!).
